The US Dept.of Ed. needs help. There are no mandatory Life Skills classes in districts Nationwide. The LA Unified School District, 2nd largest in the nation, along with college prep test taking organizations like the SATand ACT etc., measure students primarily on two things: English and Math. Unfortunately, while this can assist future adults in communicating, reasoning, and improving critical thinking skills, it does not address the life skills our children so desperately need. Our jails are overcrowded, and numbers of those with mental health issues leading to joblessness, addiction, and homelessness are pathetic. Make Parenting Class emphasizing Human Development a federal mandate to increase well being and productivity of the Nation, and give future generations a chance.
