The cost of higher education is pricing many students either out of the market or making them take out huge loans. In 1980, a college student (at minimum wage) would have to work 20 hours a week to pay for a semester. Today, it takes 41 hours a week. We can use technology to reduce cost. Downloadable books don't need to be printed, shipped, stocked and returned after expiration. Corrections and updates from the publisher could be automated. Less impact on the environment, less impact on government backed student loans, and less expenses for university book stores. eBooks should be cheaper to purchase and profits would be insured by the inability to transfer ownership after purchase
