Mobile communications devices are ubiquitous. Specifically, mobile phones are in the hands of most Americans. These devices are manufactured, almost universally, with Bluetooth/wireless hands-free capabilities.
Many Automobile Manufacturers offer Bluetooth connectivity/capabilities, or some other form of hands-free wireless connectivity/capability in the vehicles they produce and market. This is currently an OPTIONAL Addition, not a standard feature, for which consumers frequently pay.
The purpose of this petition is to require that ALL automobile manufacturers who manufacture, market, and sell their vehicles IN THE UNITED STATES have a hands-free wireless capability as a STANDARD FEATURE, regardless of make or model.
The goal is simple: curb mobile device-related traffic accidents.
