It is common practice for less expensive and mass produced beer and alcohol products to use non traditional and cheaper carbohydrate sources during the brewing process.
Often times consumers can have allergies to these cheaper ingredients, but have no way of avoiding them due to current labeling policies.
Current policy allows this to occur without any ingredient identification on the labeling of alcoholic products because these products are not regulated by the FDA. They are regulated by the Treasury Alcohol Tax and Trade Bureau.
We request that the Treasury TTB change policy to require similar ingredient labeling as the FDA for food products.
