Every parent (not just those who meeting the requirements of working at a business with 50+ employees for more than 12 months) should have the chance to bond with his/her newborn baby or newly adopted child for a full 3 months before having to go back to work. The US is far behind all other developed nations in terms of its maternity leave policies. This change would save jobs for new mothers and fathers, promote breastfeeding, and keep newborn infants healthier by delaying their exposure to disease at daycare centers and homes.
