Teacher's, Federal employees and postal workers are gifted annually with either a three day weekend, or a mid-week day of rest, to honor those who have served in the armed forces. Yet, the very men and women being recognized by this November 11 federal holiday are forced to use vacation time if they wish to get out from behind a desk, machine, or vehicle, on a day which was intended for them.
If approximately 30% of the Federal workforce are Veterans, why should the other 70% receive a paid day of freedom versus the the millions of those responsible for that day's very existence?
