I had always hoped that a GED or High School diploma was required for public office. By the statements of many of our representatives, I have to wonder if many of them made it out of elementary school, back in the dark ages.
I submit to my fellow Americans that our representatives should be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of science, math, and reading comprehension by submitting to a standard College Assessment test, such as the SAT, before registering as a candidate for office and that the scores should be made publicly available to media and the general public.
How can we ask these men to make decisions on such widely varying topics as a public official will face without being secure in the knowledge that they have even a basic education themselves.
