The more vulnerable citizens of the US living at or below the poverty line are constantly facing dangerous legislation that would strip them of their basic right to food. They're constantly at the mercy of those seeking to cut their benefits. Our legislators spend more money while away on "business" in one week than most people on foodstamps make in foodstamps per year. Spending cuts should be made in other areas and not the foodstamp program. We spend too much on politicians, corporate welfare, corporate bail outs, foreign wars, aiding Al-Qaeda in Syria, etc. These are the things we need to cut. We should not be cutting food programs for those too poor to stand up against the government. Make legislators live on SNAP benefits before considering any legislation that may harm citizens.
