Credit reporting agencies are sending lenders different reports than they are sending consumers. See 60 Minutes report Feb 10, '13. Require all reporting agencies to provide the same report to consumers and creditors.
There is a 20% rate of inaccuracies by the top 3 consumer reporting agencies: Experian, Equifax, and Transunion. There is a complete secrecy surrounding how a FICO score is calculated.
Consumers should receive the same reports as any potential creditor. Credit reporting agencies should be required to remove inaccuracies or pay fines when they don't. People should be required to man agency phone lines and have the ability to provide appropriate solutions.
There must be accountability to the consumer and a full explanation of how FICO scores are calculated
