require that all credit cards switch to the chip and pin system in order to reduce identity theft and fraud.

Created by H.G. on January 15, 2013

Most other countries have added microchips to their credit cards. They help prevent identity theft and fraud; in general, they are much more secure than the American system of a magnetic stripe and signature. While they are slightly more expensive to issue, they protect consumers and make it easier for Americans who travel abroad. Because of the (minor) extra cost, most credit card companies do not want to include them. Thus, we petition the US government to mandate adding microchips to protect American consumers.
