Currently congressmen, justices, and executives such as the president have relatively few requirements that must be fulfilled prior to handling information that, if released, would be detrimental to our national security.
Meanwhile, our armed forces routinely receive background checks, interviews, polygraphs, et cetera as part of their periodic investigations to determine their worthiness to receive access to the very same classified information.
I propose that all holders of the nation's trust be required to submit to uniform investigations based on their level of access, not their position within the government.
