require all federal law enforcement agencies (FBI, DEA, ICE) to issue side arms with "smart-gun" technology.

Created by E.D. on December 03, 2015

"Smart-gun" technology prevents a gun from being fired by anyone except its owner. The potential safety benefits to police are tremendous.
A smart-gun would completely neutralize the persistent, deadly threat of an officer losing control of his or her weapon during a physical altercation.
While the technology exists, it is virtually impossible to buy smart-guns in the U.S.
Why? The gun lobby, claiming a "slippery slope" toward gun control, has bullied manufacturers and retailers into abandoning the smart-gun market.
However, there are over 100,000 authorized federal agents (and another 800,000 state and local officers). In other words, a market that could support manufacturing.
This measure would a) protect police and b) give all gun owners the smart-gun option.
