require all federally funded institutions of education to provide personal finance courses as a part of their curriculum

Created by B.S. on April 05, 2013

Required financial literacy education at the high school and collegiate levels will alleviate many burdens. Studies show that the far majority of students end their academic careers with little to no formal education on how to effectively and responsibly manage their personal finances. Requiring such education at the collegiate level will be fairly inexpensive because of the existence of curriculum and numerous trained professionals. Students will not see any increased costs if a course replaces one of the many humanities courses that many institutions require. A population with a low participation in saving/investing for retirement will cost the government trillions at the end of our generation. Financial education can alleviate much of that burden.
