There are 15 million people with food allergies today. That number is rising at a rapid rate. Thousands of these people are admitted to the hospital every year because of a severe reaction. A small fraction of these are fatal. To reduce the number of fatal reactions a year, I petition the government to require all food establishments to carry Epi-Pens. These medical devices are carried by people with food allergies. In the event of a reaction, they are used to inject the person with life saving medication that allows enough time for medical personnel to arrive and get them the attention they need. Mr. President please take this into serious consideration to save hundreds of innocent victims of food allergy reactions every year.
