Americans need greater protections from potentially harmful food allergens. Millions of Americans suffer from the symptoms of food allergies, ranging from hives to itching, runny nose to nausea, swelling to pain, and many more. Some grocers and food companies have started labeling their food to protect consumers, but the labeling should be standardized and universal (under the inter-state commerce clause). Those people who can't have nuts, milk, wheat, and the like should not have to search the undersized ingredients list - something that is barely written in English. It is a simple request to protect American's health to list potentially harmful allergens on the front of all food products. Failing to do so can result in extraordinary harm to human life and unnecessary health care costs
