require all health insurance policies, including companies that self insure, to cover Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA)

Created by J.D. on July 31, 2015

Applied Behavioral Analysis is the key treatment that addresses behavioral problems in children with Autism. It is a recognized therapy by Pediatricians and the Behavioral Health community. Unfortunately, this therapy is very costly and is not a requirement for coverage in all 50 states. Currently, only 17 states have passed laws requiring coverage and ERISA legislation has not been amended to require companies that self insure to provide coverage.

As with some healthcare treatments, ABA is very expensive ($60-100/hr of treatment) and treatment plans can require up to 40 hours of treatment for a child.

Without coverage, many families either just don't treat or are forced to take out loans to get necessary care for their child.

I'm only want children to get care they need.
