When internships were first created they were a way for college students or new graduates to get their foot into the door of jobs in their respective fields. After interns completed an internship there was an expectation that one day they would be granted a job at whatever company they interned for. Currently, however, most interns are cycled and it is highly unreasonable to expect a job at a place you intern at. Along with the worsening economy, students literally cannot afford to work for free. Being "paid in experience" does not help pay off huge student loans or put food on the table. 47% of internships today are unpaid, which is unacceptable. Require all internships to pay at least minimum wage.
