At least in certain states, landlords, management companies, hotels and universities tend to hold the residential party liable for bed bug infestations, even when the cause of the infestation was no fault of the residential party. Often these infestations are a nightmare for the residential party and the infestation is often exacerbated by fear the management party will hold the residential parties liable, often causing the residential party to attempt to use hazardous chemicals to remediate the infestation themselves, which may or may not remediate the infestation and poses a health hazard to the residential party.
We need to make remediation uniform nationwide to take the fear away that the residential party may be held liable, especially seeing as bed bugs have become a worldwide issue.
