This is simply a request to remove power from each state in order to impose increases in minimum wage at a federal level based on cost of living by state. Only 10 states in the US have increased minimum wage for 2013 while others fall behind. None of these levels are able to sustain an individual or family without the aid of welfare.
If you live in Wyoming and work for minimum wage ($5.15/hr) you will work a full week and make $10,712/year. This is unjust!
The highest increase is in Washington state at $9.19/hour but the cost of living is approximate 20-30% higher. Working full time at $9.19/hour, you would make $19,000/year. Could you live on this?
Help to increase these rates across the board to allow everyone in the country to get a raise if working for minimum wage.
