An average of one person dies by suicide every 16.2 minutes. For young people (ages 10-24), suicide is the third leading cause of death.There are twice as many deaths due to suicide than HIV/AIDS. Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the U.S. (homicide is 15th). (save.org) 1 in 4 Adults experience a mental health disorder in a given year. Seventy percent of youth in juvenile justice systems have at least one mental disorder. 1/2 of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by age 14. Providing our youth with vital information and resources regarding Mental Health and Suicide has numerous benefits such as: improving service/treatment access and utilization, help decrease stigma, helping youth suffers they are not alone and there is help and hope!
