To Require All the Nations' Public Schools to teach Mental Health and Suicide Awareness and Prevention!

An average of one person dies by suicide every 16.2 minutes. For young people (ages 10-24), suicide is the third leading cause of death.There are twice as many deaths due to suicide than HIV/AIDS. Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the U.S. (homicide is 15th). (save.org) 1 in 4 Adults experience a mental health disorder in a given year. Seventy percent of youth in juvenile justice systems have at least one mental disorder. 1/2 of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by age 14. Providing our youth with vital information and resources regarding Mental Health and Suicide has numerous benefits such as: improving service/treatment access and utilization, help decrease stigma, helping youth suffers they are not alone and there is help and hope! Knowledge is Power!
