It has been proven that, in industrialized nations, non-breastfed children experience 2.5 times the number of diarrheal infections and 3.5 times the number of respiratory infections. These contagious diseases spread and also threaten the health of other children.
Based upon the science, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that infants receive only breastmilk for at least their first 6 months, with continued breastfeeding after foods are begun.
There are many parents who choose to go against the science and refuse to breastfeed their children. Parents need to be forced to feed breastmilk, for the protection of their own children, and other children and adults who are exposed to them, from serious contagious diseases that can very often be prevented or reduced by breastfeeding.
