Politicians hold a critically important role in our country with the ability to propose laws on Americans. This role should require the highest standards.
Everyday Americans must pass background checks for the jobs they pursue.
Politicians should be held to this standard. All politicians should be required to pass state and federal background checks before being added to an election ballot. As public officials, the results should be made available to the public with personal information redacted.
I am confident the Obama administration would endorse this common sense reform.
