We request that any lawmaker who wants to restrict benefits to people on SNAP (Suplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) be required by law to be on SNAP themselves for six months, under the same restrictions they want to impose on SNAP (food stamps) recipients, consuming only food purchased with their monthly allowance of food stamps and no other food allowed. People on SNAP have very little money. They rely on food stamps to be able to eat. Often, this is all they have to spend on food. This government assistance is indispensable for their well-being. People should not be penalized for being able to buy nutritious food while remaining within their budget. Politicians should not deny SNAP recipients access to nutritious food. Politicians could learn from them how to budget.
