As a retired public school administrator, I am appalled by the lack of a full-time armed police officers at some public school campuses. In Texas, some middle and high schools have full-time or part-time police officers but most of the elementary schools do not have a full-time assigned officer. This is an extreme and dangerous gap in security for our nation's schools. With the current state of world terrorism that demonstrates no respect for human lives, whether it be an adult's or a child's, we must act now to protect all of our public schools. We cannot wait until our schools are attacked to act. It is an extremely more dangerous world that we live in. Finally, we must not be in denial of the high risk of a terrorist attack on our schools.
