Require all US aircraft to transmit sampled real time status information while in the air.

Created by J.F. on March 22, 2014

The missing flight MH370 is a another wake up call.
There is absolutely no excuse for commercial airliners not transmitting basic real time status information (location, speed, heading, altitude) back to their flight operations centers, the aircraft manufacturers, and DHS/DOD via internet, private network, or satellite. In fact, most aircraft already have this capability build into their avionics packages (via ACARS or similar).
Any aircraft in distress should automatically enable sending basic status data - an aircraft 911 call.- via any, or all, communication channels available (such as radio, internet, satellite) in real time. The aircraft operator should not be able to disable this feature - Please consider an Executive Order requiring US aircraft manufactures to enable it.
