This petition demands that corporate advertisers be required to sponsor White House or congressional press conferences through placement of visual adverts on podiums, curtains, and/or placards located on the stage of the event. Current press conference protocol is inherently discriminatory to the rights of corporate (read: people) interests by suggesting that government is preventing or stifling corporate involvement.
To avoid initial trepidation on the part of would-be advertisers, this rule would require sponsorship for all press events, not make it optional. Corporate sponsorships should be determined through a fair bidding process, with President Obama having the final word as to the color scheme and whether or not he is accepting the chosen advertiser despite his objections.
