By having young people who've just graduated enter the military, personal education begins in the areas of tolerance of others, work ethic improvement by nature of military regs, an appreciation of family, education for personal improvement, lessening the future impact of gangs/violence, creating contributing individuals upon discharge, providing immediate jobs with potential futures along with training that could be useful in civilian life, an eventual reduction of welfare assistance provided because that can become a part of the Country's payback to the individual for his time in service.
My military training has served me well since my discharge in 1972. During two periods of lay-off I was back at work within 6 weeks providing for my family.
My belief is that we must help ourselves.
