require Americans who receive taxpayer public assistance register to vote and vote in a local or general election.

Created by W.B. on November 16, 2012

This petition requires individuals who receive federal public assistance register and vote. To continue receiving said assistance, an individual must vote in at least one election cycle, whether local or presidential. There are already guidelines in place articulating the length of time a person is allowed to receive public assistance. This petition addresses the need for voting while an individual receives public assistance, not the length of time an individual receives assistance.

There are many Americans who receive taxpayer funded assistance and exercise their constitutional right to vote. However, there are many who receive public assistance and refuse to vote. We think this is a lost opportunity for some Americans to solidify citizentry and promote the civil rights inititative.
