Many companies with services that can be purchased online deliberately inhibit the ability of their customer to cancel their recurring billing by requiring that the same service that was signed up for online be cancelled only via telephone. Dealing with a call center for this purpose can be a very time-consuming, productivity-wasting task. As a result, companies are often able to squeeze out extra months of billing from their customers that can't find the time to wait on the phone. This is an unfair business practice.
We would like to see Congress put forth a bill that requires companies that allow customers to sign up for their services online to also allow customers to cancel those services online.
