In light of the devastation to surviving family members when a person becomes deceased, while still having outstanding indebtedness for a federal or private student loan, we hereby petition for the requirement that anyone receiving a federal or privately funded student loan must presently have, or must obtain, a life insurance policy sufficient to pay the indebtedness in the event the primary signatory becomes deceased or becomes permanently physically or mentally disabled.
