require that anyone running for office in this country pass a basic exam for literacy and science.

In light of the controversy over recent events in the Texas Legislature over a woman's right to choose, it is extremely apparent that many of our elected leaders don't understand basic tenets of science and human reproduction.

It would behoove us as a country to elect leaders who can truly serve the people, and it is my belief that the only way to truly accomplish this is to require basic competency tests in literacy and science for anyone running for public office. At the very least, our elected officials should understand what they are voting on before they make decisions that affect the people.
