Require approval of security clearances for federal elected officials before they can take office.

Created by J.B. on October 09, 2015

Urge Congress to pass legislation requiring federal elected officials apply for, and be approved for, federal security clearances in the same manner as non-elected civilian employees and contractors. And be required to get reapproval every term, or four years, whichever is longer.

Currently, elected officials are required to give an oath of one type or another, but that is it. No background investigations. No polygraph tests. Yet, at the same time, they have access to the most sensitive information within the government, military, and intelligence organizations.

This needs to stop.
