Currently, the ATF is in charge of regulating all alcoholic beverages, and they do not fall under the regulations of the FDA, like all other food and beverages. This would be beneficial because people would know what are in their drinks. While the main ingredient (depending on the drink) is typically listed, the rest of the ingredients are not, leaving the alcohol industry free reign to slip in artificial sweeteners, preservatives, and anything else they want to add to the drink (http://foodbabe.com/2013/07/17/the-shocking-ingredients-in-beer/ -> There is some good info here, but I have no affiliation to this site). Just because alcohol company's lobbyists have fought this, does not mean that the American people shouldn't have the right to find out what they are drinking.
