All ATMs should be equipped to accept a "forced withdrawal" pin that alerts police of a robbery. Hundreds of people are killed every year in ATM related robberies. Recently a young woman in Boston, Amy Lord, was killed after her killers forced her to withdraw cash from 5 different ATMs. A safety pin would allow you to withdraw cash, so as not to alert the criminal, but would send a silent alarm to the police to send help. This is not a new idea. For over 10 years this life saving idea of "panic" pins or "reverse pins" has been blocked by the banking lobby. Such a life saving measure is worth every penny of cost and should be required on ALL ATMs (including gas stations, malls, etc.). This feature could save hundreds of lives, maybe yours or your loved ones.
