Require the ATSDR conduct a cancer incidence study on those who were exposed to toxic drinking water at Camp Lejeune, NC

Created by T.T. on March 15, 2014

We petition to require and authorize the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) to conduct additional scientific studies, including a cancer incidence study, on the victims of the toxic water contamination at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. ATSDR scientists and experts in the field have stated that the agency has the capability to do a cancer incidence study. CERCLA gave it the authority as part of it's mission to perform these studies precisely in these circumstances. ATSDR's mortality study released last month indicated a significantly higher death rate for personnel exposed. Such studies would also prove of great practical value to medical science and possibly millions of others who were exposed to TCE or PCE through contaminated drinking water.
