Require automakers to use technology to cool a vehicles interior to protect children and animals left in hot cars.

Created by D.D. on July 06, 2014

Each year dozens of children and hundreds of pets die from heatstroke after being left in a vehicle. Even on a mild day, the interior temperature can rise by 50 degrees within minutes.

We the people propose that vehicle manufacturers be required to use technology to monitor a vehicle's internal temperature and activate the air conditioning system/windows if sensors indicate that the vehicle is occupied when the temperature passes a predetermined threshold.

Further, to avoid accidentally leaving a child/pet in a vehicle, we request that the vehicle notify the vehicle owner via text/phone if it senses that the vehicle is occupied while turned off, regardless of interior temperature.
