As any good business knows, you can not stay in business by spending more than you make. Our children and their children can not be burdened by our lack of restraint.
The balanced budget should not take away from the men and women in the military, those on a fixed income (social security, disability, etc), or the lower / middle classes. We can balance the budget by cutting wasteful spending, salaries of government officials, increasing taxes on the upper classes.
As a country, we are drowning in debt and we are hurting the future by our inability to compromise and do what is best for the people of this country.
