require banks and lenders who were bailed out by "we the people" to reset mortgages at market value or 4 percent rate.

Created by J.R. on October 26, 2011

Too many of "We the People" who bailed out the banks and financial institutions via TARP are now not able to take advantage of record-low mortgage rates or buy/sell a home due to the drop in housing values through no fault of their own. At a minimum, these institutions - whether Fannie/Freddie backed loans or not - should be required to "reset" the amounts owed to current market rates and/or reset all mortgages to a fixed rate of 4-5 percent/current market. This "fresh start" would kick start the economy, help clear the housing stock languishing on the market, and potentially allow lenders to write off losses depending on the terms of the program. Besides boosting job creation now, this could boost demand and job growth significantly for the long-term.
