Mr. President:
Right now, in America, I can make a purchase over the internet in less time than it takes to write this sentence. However, for my funds to actually reach the merchant it can take upwards of three days.
Similarly, as an employee of a small business, it can take upwards of a week for a company paying us by wire transfer to actually get us our money. This is not because of any paperwork or regulatory encumbrance. This is because this nation's banks have "no economic incentive" to speed up this process.
Banks in the rest of the world can process a transfer of funds in less than 10 seconds. It helps small businesses and consumers.
If our own banks won't do this because its the right thing to do than we demand the government force them to do so via legislation.
