Real estate buyers entering into a short sale contract should be allowed to obtain information directly from the seller's bank regarding the progress of the sale. At present, the buyer and seller must depend on third parties for information which may not be as forthcoming as necessary. There should be a system in place where ALL parties involved can access informaton regarding the process of the sale without revealing personal financial information. Short sales are still taking upwards of six months to complete. During that time loans can be sold to other banks thus halting a sale that is already in progress. Buyers and sellers need to be informed of the progress in order to exercise viable options to ensure the transactions are moving along smoothly.
