As elected officials, it is the duty of the House of Representatives and The Senate to do the work of the people. One of the most basic functions of the legislative branch is to pass a budget for the countries operation for review and approval of the executive branch. For well over 20 years the budget is provided to the executive branch late regardless of the political party in charge of The House, the Senate, and the Presidency.
Require the legislative branch to remain in session in its entirety in the session prior to the summer break, unless a budget is passed by both houses and presented to the President for review and approval. In the budget is not passed, all legislative elected officials will be retained without Per Diem, overtime, or other compensation until the budget is done.
