To require the Centers for Disease Control to allocate $10 million from their current budget to study gun violence

The CDC has an annual budget of $11 billion to fund its public health programs throughout the United States and around the globe. One of the biggest public health concerns is gun violence each year. Over 30,000 people in the U.S. die from gun violence each year - including suicides, murder, and accidental shootings. In the 2017 budget, President Obama has asked for $10 million to be allocated to gun violence research. Since the CDC does not currently have dollars earmarked for gun violence research, we ask that President Obama and Congress make this happen. Let the facts be told about the story of guns in America.
