Require college sports programs to give a percentage of revenue to academics and place limits on coach's compensations.

Created by G.J. on February 04, 2014

We as a society need to reevaluate the priorities of our higher education system. Colleges and universities across the country have been funding and subsidizing sports programs that drain the funding from academic programs. Coaches are the highest paid public employees in 40 out of 50 states.
An example of the damage would be that after a recent round of budget cuts Rutgers University's History Dept. lost its desk telephones while the Football program received $26.9 million in subsidies.
If all sport's programs had to give a percentage of revenue to their academics it would cull the ridiculous expenditures while boosting the academic output of colleges, which is ultimately their benefit to society.
