We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Require Commision of Presidential Debates to change policy on admission of 3rd Party Candidates to Presidential debate.

Created by C.H. on July 07, 2016

This petition is to ask Congress to require the Commission of Presidential Debates (CPD) change their 3rd party candidate admission policy for the Presidential Debate. Currently, 3rd party candidates are required to poll at 15% to be eligible for the Presidential Debate. However, due to the biased two-party system, 3rd party candidates are not granted the same exposure and publicity as either of the two major parties, thus preventing them from gaining any ground in the polls. A change to this policy would offer a 3rd party candidate a greater chance to debate alongside the Presidential nominees. A recommended amendment to the policy would be to grant Debate participation to the top two 3rd party/independent candidates, based on their rank in polls, regardless of actual poll percentages.
