Require companies to allow consumers to opt out of having telephone calls between consumers and companies recorded.

Created by L.R. on February 22, 2013

I would like for consumers to be able to opt out of having telephone calls made by the consumer to a company, or calls a company makes to a consumer. These recordings only give companies a way to intimidate consumers by telling them the call is recorded and the recordings give companies a way to entrap consumers into agreements they may not otherwise agree to. I believe companies may edit the recordings to their benefit. I have requested a copy of the recording of a phone call where I supposedly agreed to a contract, and the company refused to produce the recording. These recordings violate consumer privacy. I request that companies face heavy fines if they do not offer the chance to opt out, or fail to honor an opt out request. 911, police, emergency, and government agencies are excluded.
