Require that companies allowing the purchase for goods and services online to also allow consumers to cancel online.

Created by C.B. on August 13, 2014

Internet companies spend lots of time and money to enable a smooth online commerce experience for consumers purchasing their products and services, but make it extraordinarily difficult to cancel those same products and services.

Certain online companies do this because building the capability to cancel online costs time and money and it has a negative impact to their bottom line goals. If you have ever bought 12 CDs for 1 cent from Columbia House or tried to cancel AOL dial-up service you know how this works.

In 2014, the barrier to creating a cancel option for online purchases is small while the savings in time and effort to consumers is great. I believe that we should create a law that forces all companies to make canceling as easy as buying the service in the first place.
