Require comprehensive study of the U.S. Constitution in public schools from 6th grade through 12th.

Created by S.P. on November 13, 2012

A petition for the federal government to mandate as a requirement for graduation a progressive, comprehensive study of the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence in public schools beginning in the 6th grade and continuing through the 12th. The Constitution is the foundation under our government and deserves more attention in our schools than current curriculum provides. The young men and women who graduate and go on to serve our country in the U.S. Armed Services are required to take an oath to defend a document that most of them have never read. I propose that the department of education contract with Hillsdale College at Hillsdale, Michigan to develop the curriculum for this course of study.
