Nancy Pelosi argued about ObamaCare that "we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." Now the fiscal cliff deal just passed and reports claim that the Senate had three minutes to read the bill prior to voting on it.
This petition requests that each member of Congress have 24 hours per 100 pages prior to voting time in order to read and study any new or amended bill and prepare to vote on it - e.g., a 2,000 page bill would need to be in the hands of Congress at least 20 days prior to voting on it.
Passing a bill so that you can see what is in it is NOT what our representatives should be doing. Stop the back room deals - require and empower our representatives to make intelligent decisions on behalf of we the people.
