Congress repeatedly holds this country hostage to attach lucrative special-interest, budget-inflated, non-essential funding to critical legislation and as a result, puts the country through "shutdowns" -- losing its credit ratings and withholding government services and pay to American workers.
The acts of 'playing chicken' with the American economy, the country's future, our national security must end. The American voters demand that the trusts that fund Congress ONLY gets payroll, pension, Social Security, and healthcare from the same funds that provide for ALL American people so that by any dysfunction or impairment to such programs affects the Congress as well. Congress does NOT get paid during shutdowns and must endure a 20% cumulative paycut upon returning from every shutdown.
